"In the beginning the activity of the 'karaṇa' has been seen along with the mention of the object (visayanirūpaṇapūrvaka). Karaṇa is the sādhana (means to achieve the end) and it has to be pushed to function, so that mention of the object is made through the mention of the 'sādhya' (object to be established), otherwise it would not have been possible to make the karaṇa function."
